STOPPED
SHOWING UP.
Nithya Raman has cancelled 40 Housing and Homelessness Committee meetings and couldn’t be bothered to show up to the last one.
Since 2023, Nithya Raman chaired the City Council's Housing and Homelessness Committee, the body responsible for determining whether Angelenos sleep on the streets, or get a bed or a room.
In August, the Council removed her as chair.
"The committee is behind in excess of more than 100 issues. There are very serious decisions to make over what happens with homelessness. We needed someone who could focus on that and get it done and get it done quickly."
— Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, Los Angeles Times, August 2026
Raman's final meeting as committee chair was supposed to be Wednesday, August 19.
She didn't show up.
